Excursions

Wednesday Afternoon

There are two excursion options, both of which will take place on Wednesday afternoon. There will be no additional costs for the excursions. Be on the look out for an email requesting your excursion option.

  • Option 1: A group hike up Mount Kearsarge
  • Option 2: Canoeing / Kayaking on the Connecticut River
Of course, participants are welcome to choose neither of these options, and may instead explore Dartmouth's beautiful and historic campus or relax on the Campus Green.

Option 1: Mount Kearsarge

Mount Kearsarge is a mountain in Warner, New Hampshire, about 50 minutes from Dartmouth. The hiking trail is 3 miles round trip, ascending 1,811 feet. The upper portion of the mountain is completely bald granite, affording an incredible 360 degree view of the region.

Dartmouth Outing Club rates this hike as moderate difficulty. The trail is well-maintained and wide, but the last portion becomes a little more steep than a typical trail.

Option 2: Connecticut River

The Ledyard Canoe Club, located on the edge of campus, rents canoes and kayaks for use on the Connecticut river, which forms the border between New Hampshire and Vermont and flows southward through Massachusetts, Connecticut, before flowing into the Long Island Sound.

We will have 10 canoes and 10 kayaks reserved from 2:00pm - 5:00pm.
